The ABS Auslösegriff is the activation handle for the ABS Avalanche Airbag System — one of the most recognized avalanche safety technologies for backcountry skiing, ski touring, and freeride. This handle, paired with a gas cartridge, forms the release unit that the user pulls to start the airbag inflation process.
When properly attached to the backpack’s quick-coupling adapter, pulling the trigger handle causes the cartridge to open, releasing inert gas that rapidly inflates the TwinBag airbags, helping increase buoyancy and reduce burial depth. The handle contains a firing capsule, which must be replaced every three years to ensure ongoing reliability; the expiration date is visibly marked on the red cap.
After a deployment (intentional or practice),or once the expiration date is reached, the trigger handle should be replaced or serviced by an authorized ABS dealer to maintain full operational safety.
