1. Which model is right for you?
Match the outsole to the terrain: a finer tread provides a more direct feel for the ground, while a more aggressive tread is better suited to challenging surfaces. In wet conditions, look for models with drainage holes.
2. Give yourself time to adapt
Transition gradually to minimalist footwear. Increase the amount of time you wear them step by step, without rushing into heavier loads or longer distances. Adaptation is individual.
3. Putting them on and finding the right size
Sit down, loosen the fastening, and guide each toe into its individual toe pocket. Position your heel properly and tighten the shoe comfortably.
Your toes should lie naturally and fully extended without pressure, while your foot should remain secure when walking. Toe pockets that feel too loose or toes that are curled indicate that the size may not be right. If you plan to wear toe socks, try the shoes on with them.
4. How should you care for them?
Remove any dirt and follow the care instructions for the specific model. Vibram’s general recommendation is to wash them gently in cold water with a mild detergent, without bleach or fabric softener. Leave the shoes to air dry in a well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry.
