SmartGRIP Compound
Decades of victories in Motocross and Rally competitions around the world led Pirelli’s engineers to develop a new and innovative rubber formulation: the SmartGRIP Compound for the Scorpion™ MTB, which blends together opposite features:
Tear resistance for maximum mechanical grip on dry and wet surfaces, combined with high puncture resistance;
Chemical grip on wet terrain for confident riding in all weather conditions.
The SmartGRIP Compound is the result of an extensive research and development process that enabled Pirelli to achieve top-level performance in both dry and wet conditions. A single-compound formulation was chosen to ensure consistent performance throughout the entire lifespan of the tyre, even as the knobs begin to wear down.
StructureProWALL
ProWALL features sidewall protection that enhances puncture resistance and improves handling at low inflation pressures. The sidewall is reinforced with an additional layer of nylon to increase resistance to penetration and cuts while stabilizing the tyre at low pressure, ensuring a confident ride over varied terrain. ProWALL is a solid choice for XC racing, trail riding, and enduro when combined with different carcass constructions—specifically 120 and 60 TPI.
